Investiture Night

Tonight was a big night for our Adventurers. We were pleased to be finished with so many projects. The program was really nice with singing and a motivational talk by the pastor. Then it was time to present the awards. Sarah was presented with 12 new honors! We had really pushed to complete a lot since it was her last year in Adventurers. Ben also walked off with an armload of honors. The kids have such a positive outlook, and it is contagious. Now we have a break until August! What will we do with our Wednesdays???

Chosen Leaders

Ben and Sarah have been wishing all year to be chosen to hold the flags during the opening portion of the Adventurer meetings. There have been a few obstacles in their way. First, they have to be in their complete, full-dress uniforms. Secondly, and most notable in this case, they have to be the first to arrive at the meeting. Althought they were in uniform often enough, being the first to arrive has not happened until tonight! It is the last full dress night of the Adventurer year, and they were thrilled to be chosen. They have to help to hold the flag and lead out the other kids with the Adventurer Pledge and Law, the Pledge of Alligience and the Pledge to the Christian Flag.

Fire Station Kids

Our Adventurers took off for the fire station tonight. They needed to complete this visit for their club requirements. Ben and Kristian had a great time in the truck, and trying on the coat and hat. We can't help but admire the firemen, and the kids just soak in all the safety talk.

Sarah and Allison are in Helping Hands, and I'm their fearless leader. We participated in most of the fire station event, but they have been several times before so we ducked out early to complete our environmental honor by collecting trash. We had a lot of difficulty finding trash to pick up! We went to a cemetary, a park, around the church and by a school. Our town must be cleaner than we realized. We were able to get enough to feel like we found trash. Another project we were able to check off the list this week!

Only a few weeks left in this year, and Sarah will promote out of Helping Hands in Adventurers, up to Pathfinders.
