Happy 40th!

My sneaky family and friends managed to pull off the big surprise for my birthday today! There were a few odd things happening the last day or two, but I didn't have any idea what everyone was up to behind my back. Clint told me he was too busy to do anything for my birthday, and I believed him because it was obvious he was barely staying afloat under his workload the past few weeks. I was told we were going out for dinner, and I sort of wondered if we were meeting another family or two at the restaurant. The surprise came when we didn't drive to a restaurant. Clint had to make a stop for work first! I'm sure it will take quite some time before I trust him again. I will always remember my family and friends for their thoughtfulness when everyone is really too busy to stop for a birthday right now.

Everyone joined in a potluck and the food was fabulous. Clint had managed to stay up late a couple of nights and prepare a touching slide show on the computer with several nice photos with family and friends. All of the kids really brought the party to life with their singing and silliness.

Before I knew it, it was over and we were heading home. We opened a few presents, and I'm sure I was smiling the rest of the evening. Thanks to all my family and friends who share their kindness all through the year.
