Locks of Love

This was a day we have been looking forward to for a long time! Sarah has been growing out her hair for nearly two years with a plan to donate it to "Locks of Love." They use hair donations to provide hairpieces to children who have lost their hair, mainly due to health issues or procedures. Although this was her idea, the last day brought some anxious feelings as she thought about life without her long hair.

She had an appointment right after school at a real hair salon. This was all part of a master plan to have her hair cut during Spring Break to surprise everyone at school. Ben asked for one last photo in the car with her long hair. Clint surprised her in the waiting area which was nice. We gathered nearly 12 inches into a pony tail, and C-U-T. The stylist said is is difficult to cut off so much of someone's hair. We were holding our breath. Several people came up to congratulate her for her donation and ask questions during the haircut.

The good news is we LOVE the new hairdo!!! She was delighted to look in the mirror at the end. She has a definite new bounce in her step, and giggles when the wind blows on her neck. It will be fun the next time she washes her hair. Things we won't miss: tangles, tangles, tangles. It was fun to experiment with longer styles and braids, but this new look will still allow for some flexibility.
She couldn't stop smiling the rest of the day. We are all tickled with the new look, but even more tickled to see her thinking of others and looking at how she can make a difference for someone else. Way to go Sarah!
