Clint's Leg and a Swimming Train

Here is a brief medical update in case you haven't seen Clint lately. A week ago, Clint partially tore his medial gastrocnemius (calf) muscle in his left leg. We don't need to go into a lot of details, except to mention he was playing basketball at the time, and he managed to do it without anyone else touching him. :) Luckily, since it was his left leg and he could still drive home from basketball. There was some concern that he had done more damage, but they determined he could heal without outside measures, just taking it easy (ha!) and using a cane for support. Estimated recovery time is about a month. We are wondering if this is just a ploy for attention. He certainly gets a lot of attention when friends see him with a cane, or even just hobbling instead of using his normally smooth walk. In reality, we were quite worried about him at first and have been encouraged to see his improvements. It is already getting easier for him each day.

Today was a planned swimming outing with friends from Sarah's school. Clint was excited to try swimming since it wouldn't hurt his leg and he could get some exercise. He didn't factor in how popular he would be with the kids as the engine of a swimming train! We all enjoyed the chance to play in the pool. The kids are really improving their swimming and diving skills. I'm sure we'll be swimming a lot in the summer.
