Geocaching in June

We looked at our afternoon and discovered there was nothing on the schedule! Clint was not working. We didn't have any appointments. Quite unusual. So we loaded up the family and headed to a wildlife refuge Clint read about earlier. It was new territory for us, and he found three possible geocaches for our hiking enjoyment. We only had time to find two, and some serious climbing was required this time. While we were walking, we spotted rabbits, lots of different birds, a quick lizard, and a few fishermen. Clint is pointing out the lizard in the above photo, and Sarah snapped this thistle in the sun.

On one stretch of our hike, Sarah and Becky paused on a rock in the shade by the river while the boys pushed on exploring through the brush. We sat together and watched the water swirl as it went by with a gurgle. We were so still, a bird flew within inches of our faces! We could have stayed there a long time, but realized we needed to go home eventually. There's no doubt we'll be back to this spot.
