Barton Springs Pool

A picnic lunch was enjoyed by all and we prepared to swim in the Barton Springs Pool (part of the Zilker Park area). We went to a pool area which was new to our hosts, and it was really fun! This pool is fed by underground spings and is on average 68 degrees. It has natural rock under your feet which added a dimension of adventure. It was often slippery and there were sudden dropoffs if you weren't paying attention.

After a bit, we were refreshed from the cool water. We decided to take a break and ride the park train. Of course we had to stop to pick up a couple of snow cones for the ride - one lime and one "tiger's blood." Turns out the tiger's blood is really just a red berry mix, so don't be alarmed.

After the train ride, we were back to the pool for some more swimming. The kids were a bit more daring the second time, trying some dives, etc. We finally had to call it quits and head home before supper. This was a nice taste of this downtown park.
